No really, they shouldn't have -- housewarming gifts from the previous owners

Usually, we like receiving gifts, but in this circumstance we don't have a choice. We're just starting to scratch the surface of the 'gifts' that have been left behind for us. For example:

• Blueberry jam (preserves?) and cans of dog food in a box. This was left on the porch for us.

• A plate o' half eaten ribs found in the garden. I guess it was just too difficult to bring inside and clean up. (I think this sums up the habits of the people who lived there nicely.)

• Surprise cars! We call them this because we haven't taken the tarps off yet, but we think Jaguars lurk underneath.

• More preserves and dulche de leche sauce. This was left just sitting on a cement ledge. The orange one is kind of pretty looking with the sunlight streaming against it. (I guess that's what you call 'making the best out of a bad situation'.)

• And these little beauties are scattered throughout the house. Each light switch has a different dog. Words can't describe how happy I'll be when these get replaced.

I love seeing these pictures! It's amazing how some people live. That is quite an undertaking. I can't wait to see more, and then some "afters"!

Okay, that's hilarious. When I was a kid, my family moved into a great big house (it was awesome) that had been a former crack den. THe house itself was mostly cleaned up when we moved in, by our landlords, but we had to do a few choice projects like cleaning all the trash out of the backyard (used feminine products! hypodermic needles!)... the best part was when our dog ripped into the trash bags and we had to clean it all up again!!

My husband & I are moving into another house soon, also being fixed up by landlords... they are taking care of cleaning it up, but the family before was basically squatting (hadn't paid rent for months). The garage was full of trash bags full of trash, porch was covered with all kinds of their old junk, back entryway filled with newspapers and junk mail. Ugh!!

Anyway, excited to see more from you!

Some people have NO IDEA how stupid all this makes them look. I'm glad you can see the sunny side :-)
